Happiness

"Happiness is an inside job." - William Arthur Ward

Happiness is a state of being, not a moment-by-moment experience.  Happiness is the result of knowing Divinity is available.  The experience and presence of God’s love is available and within us at all times.  We only need to choose to be aware of the Presence.  This choice is made by surrendering our struggle, surrendering our fear, anxiety, and worry.  Surrender our ego and its need to be in control.  Surrender to the sense of joy that comes from experiencing the presence of God.

“To me, every hour of light and dark is a miracle.  Every cubic inch of space is a miracle.” – Walt Whitman

Spirit

Just before Thanksgiving, our special needs daughter, Ashley, was hospitalized with pneumonia.  I felt blindsided and my world was rocked to the core.  Fear and anxiety are still the first feelings I had.  I felt that I was looking over my shoulder for the approaching darkness.  My blessing and relief came in my morning meditation and prayer.  Spirit flowed into my open heart and mind.  Spirit always counteracts fear and anxiety.  God is my source.  I remind myself that I can never be separated from my Source.  God is always with me.

To rise above my frail humanity, I must make time to be with my Source.  I start my day in meditation and prayer.  I end my day in meditation and prayer.  Throughout my day, I take time for contemplation, making conscious my oneness with God.

Be True To Who You Are

When I make a commitment, I am in an intimate relationship with my soul. I am committed to my mission, to my sense of purpose in this life. This includes staying true to myself when things are difficult. This includes accepting my faults, mistakes, limitations, and aging. I am still learning to love myself even when others do not. I am more concerned about being integrous with my soul than I am concerned with the approval of others. This is simultaneously difficult and essential. I embrace the Divinity that resides within me. The same Divinity that radiates in all life. I am bound to my truth.

The "still, small voice"

“The intuitive mind is a special gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and forgotten the gift.”  -Albert Einstein

All the good in my life has come from following the “still, small voice.”

Service is Joy

“I slept, and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke, and I saw that life is all service. I served, and I saw that service is joy.” -Kahlil Gibran

I have learned that for me to be healthy, happy, and whole, my life must be of service. I find great joy in the giving process. I find joy in connecting people. I find joy in helping people be all they can be. The more I serve the greater the blessings in my life. All my work is service. All my work is fulfilling. When I am of service spirit moves through me. I am full of joy.

“Spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”  -Mother Theresa
